New Portrait Work for an IT Professional

Who said IT guys are not photogenic? Or wait, Italians don’t count?

One of my recent clients was the IT professional Francisco, who came to me for the experience. He wanted some photos of himself for professional purposes, but was mainly curious about having professional photographs of himself.

So we did exactly this - changed outfits, backdrops and positions.

What was more surprising but exciting to me was that he wanted some semi nude photographs too. This proved me once again that people are curious and exciting to see such work of themselves. And also proofs me that the work I do is relatable and beneficial for others too.

Mother's Day Giveaway has been Gifted!

Finally I can share that the giveaway I offered for Mother’s Day has finally been received. It took some time due to difficulties in arranging schedules, but I’m happy the lovely mother of two Sonya has received her 30x40cm photographic print after her photoshoot with me.

The goal of the shoot was something she was looking for - a portrait of beautiful, strong, independent woman, who knows what she deserves. From all the photographs, she chose this one and required to be in black and white. And so, here is the result…

It’s a true honour to see people opening up in front of my camera and allowing me inside their personal space. It’s a honour to feel their trust in the process. And the happy faces from the results are just adding up to the whole miracle.

Art Nude Photo Session: Body & Piano

Music has a special pulling power. Isn’t it amazing how sounds can make you feel? Can take you places and bring back memories? Can change the frequency of your emotions and turn them upside out and inside out.

During one of my commissions, I had to photograph all the musicians with their instruments. Some instruments are easier to frame - those easy to move have more posing options to play with. But I found myself challenged by the keyboard. I adore the piano, I love the keys - back&white, square edges, you know, my favourite things, but the shape of a keyboard… well, the shape I find a bit weird, looking less inspiring than its sound.

So I challenged my own creativity - something so square and static, but so beautiful to me, can I transform it and give it another look, another feel, put some body shapes around?

Maybe it’s true that whatever you capture with a female body will look beautiful. Or maybe is my love towards both that make me feel that way.

Portrait Session - Personal Branding for a Language Translator

Everyone who is on the market of providing services or creating a products, needs to have a professional visual look that will compliment their work. Portraits that enhance their character while helping them serve their clients.

This is a portrait session type personal branding for EO Languages & Translations. Erminia is an experienced translator, interpreter and teacher who covers Italian, English, Spanish and Portuguese languages.

She wanted images that can present her brand better and here are the results:

Portrait Session for the Photographer Eddy Kelele

Recently I had the honour to photograph a fellow colleague - the Girona based sport and documentary photographer Eddy Kelele. There is always a different feeling when photographing another photographer. Something between fear of the quality control and an honour that I’ve been trusted by someone who actually knows what the game is all about.

Eddy is an incredible person and professional. With decades of experience, published photography books and portfolio full of commercial and cultural photographs that will remain in history.

He was one of the first people I’ve worked with when I moved to Spain. I assisted him in a shoot with the professional basketball player and top medalist Laia Palau for La Vanguardia. I was with almost zero Spanish (Castellano) and nervous as hell. But my professionalism and experience took over, helping me to remain calm and concentrated.

The shoot was quite quick as it goes in such environments, well scheduled, with perfectly mapped location spots and poses. The experience was great and very nurturing. We had a great time and the final result was better that I’ve imagined.

This time around the task was different. Eddy asked me to take some portraits of him for a project he’s currently working on. Of course, I agreed straight away - it’s always a pleasure getting involved in anything related to photography.

We were supposed to do one quick photo. Instead, we ended up playing for 4 hours, changed 3 different light settings, 2 outfits and completely lost perception about time. The job definitely got done perfectly, but also we had a lot of fun.

We used 2 constant lights on each side of his face, a white background and at the end the door near by to make the background look black - photographers’ tricks and treats ;)

But I’ll tell you a secret - we didn’t actually his proper studio as it was supposed to be “just ONE quick photo” and his studio seemed too far away for us (3 min walk :D). So, we decided to set up a little studio in the pasillo in his house. Literally meter by meter square space, but you don’t really need much of a space for a classic portrait.

And here are the results - just another proof that you can create anywhere if you want to. With or without a proper studio, with or without a proper camera, what you’ve got is what you need to make something good right now.
